Ferrosilicon
Introduction:
Ferrosilicon (FeSi) is a silver gray alloy of silicon and iron. This material production is based on quartz, iron ore, coal and coke as raw materials melting in an electric furnace.This alloy is produced by the reduction of silica with coke in the presence of iron.
Fe and Si are main elements in this material. Other constituent elements of this material are Al, C, S and P. Popular grain sizes of this material are 0-3mm, 3-10mm and 10-60 mm.
Application:
Ferrosilicon is a fundamental element as additive in part casting and steel production process. It is widely used as the deoxidizing agent and acts as an alloying element.
